The bonafide movie star whose career has seen a sharp shift to content based films in the last 5 years is breathing much-required oxygen to a breathless industry!
Akshay Kumar's films of relevance and patriotic spirit have consistently delivered box office returns. The recent cinema deluge was heading towards a crisis zone for the economics of the movies but TOILET provided the much-needed relief for cine-goers as well as the exhibitors and distributors.
Toilet has had the most growth ever percentage wise and actual number wise. The film earned Rs. 13.10 crore on Day 1 but witnessed growth on the second day, as the film managed to earn Rs 17.10 crore, but on third day e.g. Sunday the movie took a big jump and earned 21.25 Cr. which takes the total to Rs. 51.45 cr. for the first weekend.
Confirming this Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh also tweeted about the same on his social media.
Considering the positive word of mouth, 'Toilet Ek Prem Katha' is likely to set the cash registers ringing over the next few days.
The movie deals with the menace of open defecation and is based on a real life incident wherein a woman left her husband after finding out that there was no toilet in their house.
The movie has been helmed by Shree Narayan Singh. This is the first time Akshay collaborated with Bhumi.
