Anil Kapoor who began his Bollywood career learning to play the harmonium for Woh Saat Din (1983) is now taking to the trumpet in Fanney Khan.
Even after 35 years, Anil Kapoor's process of understanding the instruments has remained as monotonous as it always was.
While talking about the learning process, Anil Kapoor shares,"The trumpet is an integral part of my character. It stays with him throughout the movie as a prized possession. I was excited to learn a new instrument and took lessons from professional player Ramesh Kumar Gurung'.
Despite playing a variety of instruments for his films it is the trumpet that he found the hardest to perform with. while talking on the same, Anil shares, "Playing it, and acting while playing it, are two different things. It was challenging to emote while using the instrument. My character, Fanney, plays it when he is sad or happy. So I had to make it look real."
He further adds, "I learned to play the harmonium from Ustad Iqbal Ahmed Khan. Music has played an integral part in my career. I understood melody and rhythm through the characters I have played".
Fanney Khan has been making immense buzz ever since the announcement. The film brings back Anil Kapoor and Aishwarya together after 17 years.
A one of its kind musical comedy, Fanney Khan is a story about a father played by Anil Kapoor who wishes to fulfil the dream of his daughter who is an aspirational singer.
The film also showcases Aishwarya Rai Bachchan playing a singing sensation and
Rajkummar Rao portraying the love interest of Aishwarya in the film.
Starring an ensemble cast, Fanney Khan will see Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao and Divya Dutta in pivotal roles.
