'Riverdale' To Achieve Recognition From Gay Rights Education Group

The stars and the team behind the popular-series 'Riverdale' will be awarded for their LGBTQ representation on screen. The show will receive the 'Gamechanger Award' which shall be bestowed upon by The Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, a prominent Gay Rights Education group.

The show has been recognized for its "groundbreaking storytelling about LGBTQ relationships" as told by the group GLSEN which was founded in 1990. The GLSEN Respect Awards are to be held on October 25 and will take place in Beverly Hills, California. In addition to the 'Riverdale', actress Octavia Spencer will also be in attendance for receiving this honor.

CW's 'Riverdale' is a modern, darker take on the classic 'Archie' comic series. Created by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Riverdale shows Archie and his gang become entangled in dark Riverdale mysteries while navigating the troubled waters of romance, school, and family.' Riverdale' stars K.J. Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, and Madelaine Petsch in major roles. The show is also available for streaming on Netflix.
