As Sushant Singh Rajput's death and suicide case was being investigated by Mumbai police and Bihar police, now finally on the request of the Bihar government, the Supreme Court of India has transferred Sushant's death case to Central Bureau Of Investigation (CBI) for further inquiry. Interestingly, just one day after the case was transferred to CBI, the agency has filed an FIR against actress Rhea Chakraborty and her five family members including Indrajit Chakraborty, Sandhya Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty, Samuel Miranda, and Shruti Modi.

The FIR has been filed under several sections of the Indian Penal Code(IPC) including abetment to suicide (306), wrongful restraint (341), wrongful confinement (342), theft, criminal breach of trust (406), cheating (378) and criminal intimidation(503). The case has also been filed against others related to Sushant's death who might not have been accused yet.

The CBI FIR says, `The investigation of FIR No. 241/2020 dated 25.07.2020 registered u/s 341, 342, 380, 406, 420, 306, 506, 120B IPC, PS- Rajiv Nagar, District-Patna, related to the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput has been transferred to Central Bureau of Investigation for investigation,`

The case was transferred to CBI after Sushant's father KK Singh and Bihar government made an allegation about Mumbai police covering the case and saving the high profile people. KK Singh has also said that the Mumbai police did not register the FIR until 40 days of Sushant's demise and were asked to wait for a written complaint from the victim's family. Earlier, KK Singh filed an FIR against Rhea Chakraborty and five other members. Responding to which, Rhea filed a petition in Supreme Court requesting the transfer of the case to Mumbai police.
