RGV claims he was keen to sign the porn star for an item number in Department, but the Bhatts did not allow him
Director Ram Gopal Varma's latest discovery Nathalia Kaur, who will perform an item number in his film Department, may be the talk of the town, but it emerges that the filmmaker initially wanted to sign porn star Sunny Leone for the song.
However, RGV alleges that the Bhatts, with whom the porn actress has a contract, did not let this happen.
Now, Kaur will not only be seen in the item number choreographed by Ganesh Acharya, which was shot last week, but will also share screen space with Sanjay Dutt in RGV's next film.
According to the director, this project will be based on international terrorism and the treatment of the subject will be on the lines of Steven Spielberg's Munich.
Varma said, "I actually wanted Sunny Leone for the item song in Department. I'm a big fan of hers. But she has a contract with Mahesh, Mukesh and Pooja Bhatt. So I was denied access to her."

The filmmaker, however, claimed that he has not signed an exclusive contract with Kaur, a Brazilian model, and added in a sarcastic tone, "I don't believe in contracts, exclusive or otherwise. I leave that to other production houses who are scared of losing their discoveries."
Taking a direct potshot at the Bhatts, Varma added, "Whether it is Sunny Leone or Nathalia Kaur, you can't keep them fastened to the pillar in your backyard hoping no one would steal them."
