It is true. After completely letting loose in Panos Costimos helmed Mandy, Nicolas Cage is going 'Nic Cage' Richard Stanley's much-awaited Color of Space-based on an H.P Lovecraft story of the same name. The 'Hardware' the filmmaker known for being let down by studio system will be seen returning to a feature film after a very long time.
The original story by Lovecraft is about the aftermath of a meteor crash landing on earth, as both fauna and flora undergo mysteriously transformations. In the first released image, Nicolas Cage stands by his vehicle, possibly bewildered by the changes in his surroundings. There's also a poster for the film which perfectly encapsulates the madness of the material.
Stanley gets to show his film at the Toronto International Film Festival's Midnight Madness line-up, with the likes of First Love by Takashi Miike and Indonesian superhero film Gundala by Joko Anwar. This year, the jury is comprised of award-winning filmmaker Athina Rachel Tsangari, Berlinale Artistic Director Carlo Chatrian, and Variety International Film Critic Jessica Kiang.
With a wide slate of films on its itinerary, the 44th Toronto International Film Festival will run from 5th to 15th September.
