Earlier this month, Rian Johnson confirmed that he was writing a sequel to his 2019 resounding success, Knives Out that made his fans jump in excitement. He revealed that he intends to focus on Benoit Blanc investigating a new mystery and now, some new info is coming up from the town of Hollywood about the sequel.
On being questioned whether the as of yet untitled Knives Out follow-up would too have as talented a star cast as its predecessor got, Johnson said that 'all bets are off'.`It's going to be Daniel (Craig) playing Benoit Blanc, the detective. Other than that, all bets are off. It's a totally new cast,` Johnson told Variety.
A modern whodunit, Knives Out followed a family gathering gone awry, after the family patriarch's death leads a master detective to investigate. The film received universal critical acclaim and director Rian Johnson was nominated for best original screenplay for the film at the Oscars 2020. Knives Out was also nominated for best picture at the Producers Guild Awards and best comedy at the Golden Globes.
Knives Out is a 2019 American comedy-mystery film written, produced, and directed by Johnson. The film grossed $299 million worldwide against a $40 million budget. On February 6, 2020, Lionsgate officially announced that a sequel was greenlit and under development. The film featured an ensemble cast of Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, Lakeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell, and Christopher Plummer.
