Methi Malai Mattar Recipe


  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 40 gm Sugar
  • 2 tsps Cream
  • 25 gm Onions
  • 1 tsp Ginger, chopped
  • tsp Turmeric powder
  • A pinch of Cumin seeds
  • 50 gm Fresh Green Peas
  • tsp Coriander powder
  • 2 Whole Red Chillies, slit
  • Garam Masala powder
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • Slat according to taste
  • 1 tsp Cottage cheese, grated
  • 800 gm Fenugreek leaves, finely chopped


  1. Boil 1 lt water in a pan, add a little sugar and fenugreek leaves.
  2. Boil for 2-3 minutes, drain and set aside. Boil and drain green peas and keep aside.
  3. Heat oil, crackle cumin seeds, add 1 red chilli, chopped ginger, and saute for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add onions and cook till golden, add tomatoes and stir for 3-5 minutes. When the tomatoes cook, add the fenugreek leaves and green peas.
  5. Add turmeric powder, 1 red chilli, coriander powder and garam masala powder and cook till the masala mixes well.
  6. Add cream and cook till the masala is semi-dry and the fat leaves the masala.
  7. Adjust the seasoning.
  8. Transfer to a serving dish, garnish with grated cheese and serve hot.
