After Official Chukyagiri and Official CEOgiri, Arre has now come up with the third instalment of this original series titled, Official Bhootiyagiri which is an MX Player exclusive.
Sumeet Vyas aka DIlawar Rana returns as the intelligent CEO, Dilawar Rana, Official Bhootiyagiri is about him trying to manage his family hotel where he grew up. The building is supposedly haunted and is the reason behind his severe social anxiety disorder. Rana was arrested at the end of Official CEOgiri (season 2) but is bailed out in the new season to put his business skills to use and replenish the declining profits of his family property.
The series begins inside the jail where we see criminals who are known for snatching chains, murders, guns in their hands but Rana makes them cut Paapad and make dough for it. Yes, in the jail he has started his own start up of Paapad, where the whole jail helps him to do that business. But the real fun and thrill begins once Rana comes out of jail and stars managing his family hotel and soon what seems not so scary becomes very, very scary and what follows is a haunted yet humorous ride that is if simply put, damn good!
The story is well narrated and directed to reach the audience with a great sense of humor which is commendable. The horror and drama succeeds in keeping your eyes glued to the screen and the screenplay is smooth too. Vishwajoy Mukherjee had directed the series brilliantly and one gets awe struck with his direction skills more and more with every episode.
Sumeet Vyas as the charming and adorable Dilawar Rana plays the role effortlessly once again. The guy is just magic on screen and we fall short of words praising him as its just complete delight to watch him. He indeed steals the show in every scene throughout the series. Every emotion he projects on screen be it being emotional, humorous, his anxiety or anything else is just brilliant.
Performances of Eisha Chopra is seamless too and her sense of dialogue delivery & timing is flawless. Pranay Manchanda and Mohan Kapoor are noteworthy too. Sujata Segal, Udita Bhalla, Naveen Prabhakar and Ajay Kapoor have done a decent job in their respective characters and the rest of the cast is average which is acceptable.
The cinematography impresses too and looks like it was just a piece of cake for the team of Official Bhootiyagiri as their scary efforts can be clearly seen on the screen. Some of scene are really scary and give you goosebumps so if you love horror then you are in for a treat here. Apart from this, the sense of timing in Vishwajoy's direction in each & every scene is great too which keeps you hooked throughout the run-time.
What grabs the audience's attention the most is the humor, the dialogues and the engaging writing. The background score is good and though it dwells well with series, it does seem pretty average in terms of adding to the horror moments here. Dialogue delivery of the whole cast plays a role as one cannot rely completely on the lead.
In a nutshell, Official Bhootiyagiri is a well-etched script that is executed well too and makes up for a great watch in this lockdown. It is an amazing blend of horror-comedy and the performances are the cherry on top. So, if you like comedy with a pinch of horror then you are in for an amusing ride.
