"Brain is the most outstanding organ that works 24/7 and 365 from birth until you fall in love" is truly said by someone and the same thing happens with Deep (Saqib Saleem) in Nachiket Samant's "Comedy Couple".

It's a story of two love birds Deep (Saqib Saleem) and Zoya (Shweta Basu Prasad), who live-in together and have one goal to achieve, and that is to become a world-famous first stand-up duo. It seems a perfect couple with no issues, but how can it be possible in any relationship? Though the mates are laugh-riot on stage with their sharp and sarcastic lines, that takes them on a variety of issues, professionally and personally also, while grappling with them off-stage. The one thing that becomes the reason for their fight is the way Deep thinks that white lies are harmless, whereas, Zoya believes the totally opposite. And this is the habit that ultimately creates a huge breach between the couple.

The story begins with a stand-up show, where this couple nailed it and got a chance to perform at a corporate party and the clip of their act goes viral on YouTube and becomes trending. While they watch their fandom slowly increase, we learn that the suave story-teller, Deep has tricked society into believing that the two of them are siblings, just to stay together. However, after getting caught, the duo has no option left but to stay with their friends separately. So, Zoya ends up living with a friend who is a staunch feminist Aditi (Subha Rajput), while Deep puts up at his friend, Rohan's (Aadar Malik) squalid flat. After getting tired of sorting the things and arranging them, Zoya asks Deep for the fake marriage certificate that also doesn't work. But why? That you can watch in this 115 minutes movie. From their own experiences, they start generating content for their shows and get more hits.

These days filmmakers are more intent on breaking the customs of Bollywood to present movies like never before. Hence, Nachiket Samant tries to bestow such a relationship that is unseen yet, but eventually, as the film proceeds, you'll realize that there is no fad in the storyline and the pent-up expectations come lessening down within the first half an hour of the movie.

Director chose the film with all good ends to make a film on a kind of bond that hasn't really been presented in Indian cinema, but things go out of order because of the somber script and editing part as well. You'll find some reality of society in the name of live-in relationships and a few other moments like when Deep got arrested to make fun of 'Gau Mutra', all these scenes can make you laugh but for the short-span. Moreover, the title failed to justify the storyline because this comedy couple has to make us giggle but that dull drama washes out all the expectations from the film.

If we talk about dialogues, these are also not up to the mark to make you chuckle that it has to be. The movie could have been more focused on punchlines or their stand-ups but it moves towards unwanted drama that totally shaken the story. In fact, you might feel like what and how this end takes place.

The acting of Shweta and Saqib as Zoya and Deep, complement each other's performances. The chemistry between the duo is the only thing that can interest you in the film. The supporting cast has the potential to upgrade the movie, but here the roles of these people are very less as per the story. Jasmeet Singh Bhatia as Timmy, the broker, and Pranay Manchanda as Sidhu as the couple's manager deliver a few amusing punchlines but that's not the only thing the audience expects from the whole movie. This film could have been an exciting take on the topic but the creators don't seem set to make the dive.

All in all, Comedy couple is a film with not so comedy among the couple but a lot more drama that too will weaken story-telling. But if you want to watch this couple on-screen then you can give a chance to this so-called rom-com.
