Radio DJ threatens to sue PM over long speeches
A Thai radio DJ is threatening to sue the country's prime minister because his weekly speeches disrupt her programmes.

Every radio station in Thailand has had to air Thaksin Shinawatra's 15-minute lectures since he came to power last year.

The Saturday morning speeches on his policies have recently been reaching lengths of 30 to 45 minutes.

Natthakarn Panniam says her show's sponsors are getting upset because the broadcasts interrupt her weekly music programme.

The DJ says she'll start legal proceedings against Mr Thaksin if necessary, as four of her five sponsors have already threatened to withdraw financial support from her show.

She said: "The Prime Minister is well aware that he is eating into the time. So if he continues to do that I have no choice but to petition the Administrative Court."

This court handles disputes between people and government agencies or officials.
