After a thrilling opening match in Abu Dhabi between the arch-rivals MI and CSK, the IPL moves to Dubai where Delhi Capitals will take on Kings XI Punjab on
Sunday, 20th September, in the second match of IPL 2020.
Both these sides haven't tasted much success in the IPL, with the Capitals yet to make it to a Final. Both the teams are led by two of India's finest young batsmen KL
Rahul and Shreyas Iyer under the guidance of legendary players Anil Kumble and Ricky Ponting respectively.
Under the guidance of their Head Coach, Ricky Ponting, the Capitals have been pegged as a candidate to qualify for the playoffs this season by many experts and will
look to carry on their excellent run from the previous season. The Capitals' strong Indian top-order and lethal spin bowling attack make them a formidable opponent to
Delhi Capitals have added firepower to their already strong batting unit by roping in the likes of Ajinkya Rajhane, Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis and Alex Carey.
They have a strong spin unit in the likes of R Ashwin, Sandeep Lamicchane, Amit Mishra and Axar Patel.
KL Rahul-led Kings XI Punjab haven't received much praise from the cricket pundits, with doubts arising over the depth and quality of their bowling attack. Their
hopes will rest on their batting talisman, who has been superb in limited-overs cricket of late, apart from their other top-order options in Gayle and Maxwell.
Their spin bowling lineup looks short on experience, and they would need Mujeeb to play if they want to trouble the opposition batsmen. While Mohammed Shami is a
great pacer, they do need to figure out the right options to support him. Chris Jordan seems to be a better choice when compared to the out-of-form Sheldon
Weather And Pitch Conditions
Dubai will have a maximum of 38 degrees on Sunday, along with a humidity of 63 %. In short, conditions will be hot and humid. Humidity levels might rise as the game
progresses, bringing dew into the picture.
While the tracks at Dubai have seen some big scores, they are likely to assist the bowlers more. Both teams have
reputed spinners in their ranks, who will have a role to play in the second innings with the wicket tiring out. Turn and bounce will be available. Thus it will be upto the
spinners to turn the game in the favor of their team while medium pacers should have a good game as well.
A score of above 150-160 would be above par.
Speaking about the history of the DC and KXIP, both sides have faced each other 24 times with KXIP winning 14 times and DC 10 times.
KXIP have won four of the past five meetings against DC. This includes an incredible match in 2019, where Delhi lost 7/8 to blow their chase of 166. However, there is
no Sam Curran this time around for Punjab.
Glenn Maxwell has a poor record vs Delhi: 7 matches, 45 runs, avg. 7.50. Can he deliver against them this time?
